Downloading Themes For Your Blackberry
A theme is the way your “home screen” icons are presented on your CrackBerry. Service providers provide you with a default theme as part of their basic package. For the 7100 series there is just one theme. Later models come with a variety of theme styles. To change the theme in those later models simply click Options. Go to Theme. Then select the theme you want and click on that theme and your “home screen” will be changed.
You can also change the image behind the theme. Simply go to the Pictures Icon. Click. Select the image you want as the background. Click on it. And select 'Set as Home Screen Image.' The image will be changed on your background.
To Change Default Themes
There are third party providers of different themes that can be downloaded either for a fee or for free. It pays to do a little homework. Some free themes can screw up your BlackBerry and it takes some work to reinstall the default theme. Make sure your new theme is from a reputable provider or from a source you trust. The CrackBerry.com Store offers a number of themes for your BlackBerry (free trials available) that are tried and tested and come with excellent support should you ever encounter a problem.
Before Downloading and Installing a BlackBerry Theme
** Important!
Before downloading and installing any blackberry theme onto your BlackBerry smartphone, always verify the version of the Operating System on your BlackBerry and ensure the theme you are downloading is compatible with your BlackBerry device (Curve, 8800, Pearl, etc.) and Operating System version. Installing an incompatible BlackBerry theme onto your BlackBerry device can result in a couple of bad things happening: a) on newer devices the theme won't be recognized (you installed the theme but it doesn't show up on your Themes list) and poorer performance may result. Uninstalling the theme (via Options > Advanced Options > Applications) and rebooting your phone (battery pull) should solve the problem. Installing a theme designed for a newer operating system onto a BlackBerry with an older operating system can lead to a "nuked" BlackBerry - the BlackBerry reboots continuously (white screen with hourglass) and is stuck there. If that happens, you will need to reload the BlackBerry Operating system following these directions: How to Reload the OS on a Nuked BlackBerry.
Before downloading a BlackBerry theme and installing it onto your BlackBerry, simply verify the OS and install only a compatabile theme and you won't run into any problems.
To Download A Theme To Your BlackBerry From Your PC
Go to the provider from whom you wish to buy or download a theme. Do this on your PC. Download the Theme to your PC. It may be zipped so you will need to unzip the file. Connect your Blackberry to your computer. Open up Desktop Manager. Then open Application Loader. Then open. Add. Find the file called “Themes.alx” and hit “OK”. After the installation finishes, you now need to change the theme by going to Settings. Click Options. Then click Themes and select the new theme.

Some theme providers allow for easy Over The Air installation of BlackBerry Themes. An email with a link to the blackberry theme is sent to your device. From the email, simply click the link and your berry will be taken to the theme where it is downloaded onto your device.

Plazmic Reader
If you are using a BlackBerry 8700 with a non-updated operating system, BlackBerry themes made with Plazmic software and may require the Plazmic reader to be installed on your blackberry device before the theme will work properly. Pay attention to the themes you are installing, and if they mention the word Plazmic anywhere, be sure you download this file. On newer operating systems and devices, the Plazmic Reader is included in the operating system so there is no additional software is required to view blackberry themes made with the Plazmic reader.
